The drive
Most luxury camping resorts in Texas ask for a three hour drive. Spoon Mountain asks for about 45 minutes: south out of Austin, onto Ranch Road 12, and up a caliche drive to a hilltop where the Hill Country actually looks like the postcards. You are half a mile from downtown Wimberley and its shops, restaurants and wine rooms, and minutes from Blue Hole Regional Park, one of the prettiest swimming holes in the state.

A private pool with every tent
Every tent comes with a real private pool, 8 by 18.5 feet and 5 feet deep, with a tanning ledge and floats, plus a private outdoor soaking tub for two on your deck. Not a shared amenity block. Yours, steps from the bed.
Visiting outside of summer? We heat your pool to 85 degrees for $60 a day, so a January dip works as well as a July one.
Three safari tents, one hilltop
Shaka, Kingfisher and Chisum are 450 square foot safari tents with the essentials of a good hotel room and none of the noise. Kingfisher is handicap accessible.
Adults only
Spoon Mountain is an adults-only resort with a maximum of two guests per tent, no pets, and quiet hours from 10pm. The result is the thing Austin is short on: actual quiet. Wimberley is an International Dark Sky community, so the evening entertainment is the sky, the fire pit, or a couples massage at the on-site Spa Tent.
Stays are two nights minimum. Add a private chef, a star party or pool heating from our Experiences menu, and see the best times of year for Hill Country glamping before you pick dates.

We ran our med spa next door for years before we bought the land behind it, and we built Spoon Mountain for one kind of guest: the couple who leaves Austin wound up tight and needs somewhere close enough to actually go.
