Wings Over Wimberley Bat Festival

What comes to mind when you think of fall in the Hill Country?? Cooler weather? Pumpkin patches? Festivals? Well, Wimberley has all of that and MORE!! How about a festival centered around the thousands of Mexican free-tailed bats that have taken up residence under the Cypress Creek Bridge right in downtown Wimberley?

Each Fall this multicultural festival is located between Ozona bank and Cypress Creek and it invites visitors and tourists to learn about and celebrate the important role bats play in the Central Texas ecosystems. Along with watching them take flight just around dusk visitors and locals will be able to experience the artisans, one-of-a-kind shops, talented musicians, and craft cuisine that make Wimberley’s high-vibing culture so special.

The event takes place over two days starting on Friday, Oct 1 from 4-9 and then on Saturday from 11 am-9 pm. A stroll through downtown will provide booths with local artisans, the shops on the square, and food for purchase from some very tasty food vendors all while listening to live music. What more could you ask for?? Well, how about FREE??

Food Vendors will include delicious tacos from “The Grubbage Can” as well as pulled pork or brisket from “Dr. Brisket”. “Crescent City Flavor’ will have some yummy Gumbo and red beans and rice and then you can wrap it all up or cool off with Wimberley Shaved Ice. If a sit-down meal is more what you have in mind there are multiple restaurant options right there on the square. There is something for everyone!

Keeping with the theme, Wimberley will be holding a blood drive… How fitting! So if you’re brave enough you can roll up your sleeve and donate during the festival.

So please join us for this unique fun festival that will be sure to bring a smile to your face and help kick off the fall season along the banks of Cypress Creek.

And oh, a little bat told me that Batman himself will be there!!!
