Restaurants And Bars in Wimberley
Hays City Store in Driftwood
Right outside of Wimberley on FM 3237is Hays City Store – a popular spot for locals from all over the county as well as tourists. Sit outside at a picnic table with a margarita flight or one of their many draft beers, play a game of horseshoes or bean bag toss, or just relax in their outdoor icehouse cheering on your favorite team! If it is too cold to be outside, they have indoor seating as well.
Hays City Store has great food with everything from burgers and Frito Pies, steaks and shrimp and enchiladas, plus specials such as catfish, prime rib, and more. They also have craft-made drinks using spirits from many local and regional distilleries, craft beer, and wine.

Savages Hill Country Bar
On the other side of town, at the junction of RR 12 and Hwy 32 is one of the area’s newest bars known around town as “Savage‘s” with Trifork’s restaurant inside. Winner of many local “Best of Wimberley” awards including Best Bartender, Best Live Music, and Best Bar & Nightclub, Savages is the place for live music on Fridays, Saturdays, and most Sunday afternoons.
They also have pool tables and outdoor games, a great patio with hill country views, and a digital jukebox with every song you know.
Trifork’s Restaurant, located inside, has sandwiches and burgers, salads, appetizers, and late-night snacks. The perfect food for an afternoon lunch or night out listening to music. Open till 11 pm most weeknights and 1 am on weekends. Check their website for upcoming bands that run the gamete of musical genres.
Chills On The Creek
Try a margarita or Mexican Martini as you relax under the shade trees on a deck overlooking Cypress Creek. Formerly known as Inoz, this is another local favorite with classic American food such as catfish, chicken fried steak, wings, burgers, and much more. They have a great beer selection of local and regional beers, several wines, and great bar drinks. The food is great, the drinks are cold, and the view and ambiance are amazing. Longleaf Craft Kitchen & Bar
Downtown Wimberley has several bars and restaurants that have popped up in the last few years and Longleaf is one of them. They source local ingredients from regional farmers, ranchers, and the Texas coast. Sit in the garden or inside their small dining area and enjoy appetizers such as fried oysters or deviled eggs; dinner entrees such as grilled redfish or a salad and sandwich. They also have an amazing craft cocktail menu as well as several different wines. Their food and cocktails are creative and fun.
Music Venues In Wimberley
Besides Savages, there are a few other music venues around town including The Devil’s Backbone Tavern. This old dive bar looks a bit scary on the outside, but it’s seen the likes of icons such as Todd Snider (who wrote a song about it), Hal Ketchum, Bruce Robison, and many more. The tavern has been open since the late 1930s and has a fun and spooky history as well. You will find someone playing music here almost any day of the week and lots of Austin and New Braunfels bands.
Riley’s On The Backbone is located right down the road from The Devil’s Backbone Tavern and is another famous Wimberley “Dive bar” that has been around for decades. They have live music all weekend and great views of the Devil’s Backbone plus food trucks. This is a classic biker bar with pool tables, indoor and outdoor seating, and bar, but they only serve beer…and lots of it. Don’t miss it.

Driftwood Estate Winery
Great wine, beautiful scenic views, and award-winning wine make for a great afternoon in Hill Country. Driftwood Estate Winery is located just north of Wimberley and is an excellent choice for a romantic evening watching the sunset over the hills. They have an excellent tasting room with several varieties.
Wimberley Valley Winery
Wimberley Valley Winery is a great spot for a girl’s afternoon or a romantic outing – the large yard has outdoor Jenga and a bean bag toss plus an extensive wine list, wine slushes, and sangria! Enjoy an afternoon at a picnic table under the oaks.
Duchman Family Winery
It’s often said that the Texas Hill Country landscape is similar to that of Tuscany, and you’ll certainly experience this at the Duchman Family Winery. Previously featured on HGTV as one of the 20 most picturesque wineries in the US, they offer an array of wines made exclusively from Texas grapes.

Middleton Brewery
Located on RR 12 toward San Marcos, Middleton Brewery is a favorite hangout for locals and tourists who love hill country craft beer. Their building has an indoor bar with all their beers on tap, an upstairs patio with an amazing view, and an outdoor patio downstairs. They have a food truck and often have live music on the patio.
Twisted X Brewery
Twisted X is a fun brewery located in Driftwood about 15 minutes north of Wimberley. They have a great tasting menu that includes some of their most popular items such as their Chupahopra (their IPA), Twisted X (their premium lager), Cow Creek (their Vienna Style Lager), and their Fuego, a Jalapeno Pilsner with a beautiful finish. Twisted X often has food events, and it’s a fun and different place to visit to try Tex-Mex beers. Enjoy a beer with friends on their outdoor patio with chips and salsa.
